Venus Williams, Serena Williams, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are all going to be out of the upcoming US Open with injuries. Venus is the last to announce her retirement from the American slam because of a leg injury.
The 41-year-old posted the following message on Twitter:
“Not the best news everyone. I am joining @serenawilliams @RafaelNadal and @rogerfederer on the injured list. It’s still going to be a great US Open & many thanks to the @usta for the wild card. I was so looking forward to it, but it was not meant to be this year. I will be back!”

Currently ranked no.147, Venus played her last match on the 23rd of August when she surrendered to world no.81 Su-Wei Hsieh 6-2 6-3 in the 1st round in Chicago (draw).

Ranked world no.22, Serena Williams played her last match on the 29th of June when she had to retire when playing against world no.99 Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the 1st round and the scoreline was 3-3 .
This year Serena has managed to achieve a 12-5 win-loss record. Serena Williams’s best result of this year was getting to the semifinal in Melbourne and at the Australian Open.
