An unfortunate Sabine Lisicki had to pull out Brisbane before plying the second round.
The Wimbledon runner-up had some discomfort to her stomach and she wasn’t feeling sick to take on world no. 50 Stefanie Voegele.
The German came to the second round after cruising against Magdalena Rybaricova 6-3 6-4.
Sabine’s retirement came after some other excellent withdrawals. Barty has just retired before playing Sharapova in the second round, Caroline Wozniacki couldn’t play for a problem to her shoulder (but just got engaged… so.. who cares?) and Pavlyuchenkova couldn’t finish the match against Angelique Kerber.
