Tsonga beats Murray in Abu Dhabi

The Frenchman defeats Andy 7-5 6-3. Video highlights

A good start of the seasons for Jo-Wilfrid Tsonga that was testing his fitness against a recovering Andy Murray.

Jo’s 2013 was affected by an injury to his knee (from Wimbledon) and Tsonga was adamant to test his condition. Andy was also trying to get back his fitness after an operation to his lower back.

It was clear that Murray’s rustiness affected his game as the Scott was unable to adjust to a rather quick court.

Tsonga: This win will give me more confidence

The Frenchman was rather happy by his performance to comment “I was feeling fine with my body and the knee, and this win over someone like Murray is going to give me great confidence as I start the new season,”

Murray: He was sharper than me

Andy said “The court was very quick and needed quick reaction. Tsonga was definitely sharper.”
