Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer have monopolized the attention of the media for the last 15 years and according to Stefanos Tsitsipas, it’s time to have new faces.
During the press conference that followed his opening match at the ATP1000 in Toronto, Stefanos Tsitsipas was asked to elaborate about the absence of the big3 from some big tournaments. This was the first time since 2001 that none of the Big3 is part of the ATP1000 event hosted in Canada.
Stefanos Tsitsipas commented:
“I think there is room for new stars.
You know, it’s been a lot about them in recent years, and I think now it’s showing that you know, things are changing. Things are kind of – we see kind of different generation of players stepping up and showing what they are capable of.
So it’s interesting to have this kind of variation and change of thrones, let’s call it. It’s interesting for our game.
We, ourselves, have generated our own team of people and fans that support us, give us love, and are there for us in each single match following us. We want to do as good as they have done so far.”

Currently the world no.3 (career-high), Tsitsipas has a 43-12 record in 2021. Stefanos is participating in Toronto where he ousted Ugo Humbert 6-3 6-713 6-1.
Tsitsipas has won 2 titles in 2021 in Monte-Carlo and in Lyon. Tsitsipas was the finalist in Acapulco (Abierto Mexicano Telcel), in Barcelona (Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell) and at the French Open.

Novak Djokovic in 2021
Now the world no.1, Novak played his last match on the 31st of July when he was overcome by world no.11 Pablo Carreno-Busta 6-4 6-7(6) 6-3 in the Bro. in Tokyo (draw).
Presently, during this year Novak owns a composed 38-5 record. Djokovic clinched 4 titles in 2021 at the Australian Open, in Belgrade, at the French Open and in Wimbledon. Novak got to the final in Rome.

Now ranked no.4, Rafael played his last match on the 5th of August when he lost to world no.49 Harris Lloyd 6-4 1-6 6-4 in the 3rd round in Washington (draw).
Currently, during this year the Spaniard has a 24-5 record. The Spaniard conquered 2 titles in 2021 in Barcelona and in Rome.
Roger Federer in 2021
Ranked no.9, Federer played his last match on the 7th of July when he lost to world no.13 Hubert Hurkacz 6-3 7-6(4) 6-0 in the quarter in Wimbledon (draw).
This year Federer has a 9-4 match record.
Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer played each other 40 times. The head to head is 24-16 for Nadal. The last time they locked horns, Roger Federer won 7-6(3) 1-6 6-3 6-4 in the semifinal in London (Wimbledon) in July 2019.
