Stefanos Tsitsipas has just managed to reach his world number 3 career-high ranking even if he has not performed at his very best after losing the final at the French Open. Seeded number 3 in Canada, Stefanos will be opposed to Ugo Humbert, who defeated him at the recent Olympic Games in Tokyo. These will be a tough match for Stefanos, who is still expected to win.
Daniil Medvedev is not having the smashing season he was hoping for at the beginning of the year. The Russian player managed to reach the final at the Australian Open, but later, he won “only” 2 ATP 250 titles in Marseilles and Mallorca. Seeded number 1 in Toronto, Daniil will try to win his first ATP 1000 of the season. He will play against Sascha Bublik.
Jenson Brooksby had a fantastic run in the ATP 500 tournament that was staged last week in Washington. The young American turned many heads for his unorthodox tennis fool of variations. Jenson has just broken in the top 100 and it will be interesting to see how he also performs in Canada, where he received a wild card for the main draw. He will play against Nikoloz Basilashvili.
Mackenzie McDonald also had a fantastic week in Washington, where he lost only in the final to Jannik Sinner. Also, in this case, it will be interesting to see if the young American can confirm he is in great form. He will clash in the first round against Benoit Paire.
