Cori Gauff is about to start and run in North America. The seventeen-year-old did not play a competitive match since she lost slightly more than one month ago to Angelique Kerber in the Wimbledon 4th round.
Coco was supposed to play in the Olympic Games in Tokyo, but she had to skip the prestigious competition because she was found positive for Coronavirus.
Loss of smell and vaccinations
During a recent interview, Coco Gauff confirmed that also, given her young age, she didn’t have many symptoms. However, she has been struggling with a loss of smell which is a typical condition for people infected by covid-19.
Coco commented:
“I’m just happy that I didn’t have really many symptoms. I was pretty much asymptomatic. I just had — still have — a loss of smell. But other than that, I’m A-OK.”
Coco confirmed that she has all the intentions of being vaccinated. However, she reveals that the struggle is to find the right timing.
“The real problem is just getting the dosages spaced out and, obviously, going from country to country is difficult. But, I’m going to get it as soon as I can.”
After playing a couple of exhibition matches in Washington, the American sensation will go and fly to Montreal, where she will play the local WTA1000. Coco will be opposed to Anastasija Sevastova in the first round.

At the moment ranked no.25, the American played her last match on the 5th of July when she lost to world no.21 Angelique Kerber 6-4 6-4 in the 4th round in Wimbledon (draw).
At present, during this year Gauff has achieved a compiled 31-12 match record. The American clinched 1 title in Parma.
