The Australian no.2 managed to qualify for Melbourne after defeating Rodionova 5-7 6-1 6-0. Actually the path to the main draw was rather complicated as after winning the first 2 rounds in straight sets, she had also to recover in the third match from losing the opening set 6-0 against Monique Adamczak (final result 0-6 6-1 6-2).
