Lorenzo Musetti was meant to start his campaign in Toronto from the qualifications. However, is that didn’t happen for a rather silly reason. According to reports, on Thursday, Lorenzo and his coach picked up food from a restaurant very close to the hotel (about 70 meters) because they were not able to have the food to be delivered (Lorenzo’s credit card was not working).
This was the statement from tennis Canada:
“As per the letter of approval issued by the Public Health Agency of Canada to the National Bank Open to run the event, any individual leaving the controlled environment is in breach of COVID-19 protocol and will be unable to re-enter to compete at the event.”
“We stayed two days in the room between swabs and controls, without being able to go out. And we are both vaccinated. Then they told us that we were either doing 14 days of quarantine or we had to leave the country. And so tomorrow we leave directly for Cincinnati. Needless to say, we are. very disappointed,” explained Simone Tartarini, Musetti’s coach.
Lorenzo and his coach are both vaccinated.
Lorenzo is replaced by alternate Max Purcell.
