Grieving Petrova withdraws from Auckland and Hobart

This must be a horrible moment for Nadia Petrova.

The mother of the Russian died in a car accident a few days ago, and Nadia prefers to skip the first two tournaments of the season.

Now ranked world no.104, was trying to climb back in the rankings after a disastrous 2013 when she had a 9-13 win-loss record losing the last six consecutive games. The last match she has played was at the US Open when she lost to Julia Glusko 6-3 6-4

Nadia reached a no.3 career high in 2006.
