Novak Djokovic has been breaking all sorts of records in tennis to be considered by many the greatest of all time. Nevertheless, for some reason, Novak Djokovic is often criticized by the press for his behavior.

Novak Djokovic was extremely focused in bringing a gold medal for Team Serbia at the current Olympic Games. Surprisingly, Novak had a somewhat disappointing campaign in Tokyo.

Indeed, Djokovic was very well on his way to get the precious metal after reaching the semi-finals in both singles and mixed doubles without dropping a single set on the way.

Things got pretty wrong for the world number 1 when he lost both semi-finals. Novak lost his cool when playing in singles for the bronze medal against Pablo Carreno-Busta. Djokovic threw his racket in the empty stands before destroying another racket in sheer frustration. Later, he refused to play for the bronze medal in mixed doubles, revealing that he was struggling with multiple injuries.

Many were not impressed by his behavior, but it was Novak himself to say that he was not proud of what he did, but he is still human at the end of the day.

Tennis legend and 18-time slam champion, Chris Evert, revealed her support for Djokovic on Twitter, posting the following message:

I like Novak. He’s human. He’s smart. He’s evolved and thoughtful about improving the sport for players. He gives back to his country. He admits his shortcomings. He has passion. He’s not afraid to get into the trenches….Let’s start to celebrate his greatness…”

Novak Djokovic is now taking a break from the competitions. He will be back only on the occasion of the ATP1000 in Cincinnati, where he is the defending champion.
