After a 77 years drought, alias the time the Brits had to wait for a compatriot to win Wimbledon, everybody was excited Andy Murray to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award.
That could still happen, actually it’s very probable, but the ceremony won’t have its hero. Andy Murray is now training in Miami for the new season and apparently he doesn’t have the intention to go to the event with the dismay of many.

Murray won’t be in person, but in spirit… well let’s say he will be connected. In fact, they are going to organize a video that will give him the opportunity to participate.
Murray: I am not a snub
Andy says that this was an unfortunate decision taken for the best “I would like to be at ‘SPOTY’ but these are the sacrifices I need to make in order to give myself the best chance at next month’s Australian Open.”
” I don’t want this to be seen as a snub. I am looking forward to linking up with the show live on the night and being part of it all” he added
The organisation: We are looking forward to link him up
A BBC spokesman commented “We are of course disappointed that Andy Murray cannot be in Leeds in person but are very much looking forward to him joining us live on the night via link-up. “
It seems everything is ready for Andy’s crowning!
