Jim Courier thinks USA is favourite over Great Britain

Team USA is going to make it! This is what Jim Courier thinks about the first tie against Great Britain.

Off course, they have to face Andy Murray that is widely expected to win both singles, but Great Britain should be particularly weak in the second single as the British no.2 is Daniel Evans (world no. 151). With Isner (no.14) and Quarry (no.46), we will have a probable 3-2 score for USA as the doubles would be the decisive point.

The tie will be played in San Diego on clay courts.

Courier

“If you look at their results versus our team’s comfort zone, their results tend to come on the firm surfaces and our results come on firm and on the clay. You have to assume Murray will be very, very difficult to play no matter what surface you play him on. We certainly will be underdogs against Murray no matter when we play him. But clay is the surface the guys wanted to play this tie on, so that’s why we are doing it, said the Davis Cup Captain that points at clay as the winning card.

Well at least Jim was delicate enough not to point out that Britain weakness is the second player that will side Murray in singles.
