Roger Federer and the Davis Cup do not have a great feeling.
Few days ago there was a tasty comic that was depicting Stanislas Wawrinka flying over Dubai courting Roger for playing the Davis Cup. Actual there was a lot of truth about this.
Even if Roger is coached by Severin Luthi, the Swiss Davis Cup captain, he is still rather unsure if playing the tie against Djokovic & C. The interesting part is that the Swiss team would have the upper hand on Serbia that at the moment can’t find any suitable candidate to play the second single alongside Djokovic, and with Wawrinka playing at his best, Switzerland would definitely win at least 2 singles.
One of the problems for Federer (and the other players) is that the first Davis Cup tie will take place the 31st of January and that is damn close to the Australian Open. Roger and Stan would have to play it in Novi Sade in Serbia (and that’s far from Melbourne!)
Roger: I have no idea
The Maestro commented “In the next few weeks I will make a decision about the Davis Cup. But at the moment I have no idea what it will be.”
