Thomaz Bellucci to kick start the Rio Open

The Brazilian Tennis didn’t really shine in 2013 to fail to place any player in the top 100 (in the ATP). By the way there is still frenzy around tennis as the Rio Open will feature great players in 2014. World no.1 Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer have already signed to play the competition that is going to take place at the Jockey Club Brasileiro 15-23 February.

Thomaz Bellucci, now ranked world no. 125, was present to the opening to comment “When I was a kid I never had a chance to watch this kind of event at home. I have played some tournaments in Brazil before, but never one like this,”

Since this is going to be a joined event (ATP and WTA) also the Brazilian no.1 (world no.98) Teliana Pereira was at the event “I am very much looking forward to playing in Rio. I think that when we Brazilians will be on court, it will be like a Davis Cup atmosphere.” she commented
