Naomi Osaka And Ashleigh Barty

Ashleigh Barty, Naomi Osaka, Aryna Sabalenka and Bianca Vanessa Andreescu are all going to play the upcoming Rogers Cup. The tournament will be played from the 9th of August and the defending champion is Bianca Andreescu who won the event in 2019 after Serena Williams had to withdraw from the final with injury. The Rogers Cup did not take place in 2020 because of the global pandemic

Montreal tournament director Eugene Lapierre commented: “We are delighted to welcome the likes of Ashleigh Barty, Naomi Osaka and Aryna Sabalenka, as well as Bianca Andreescu, who we know will get a reception for the ages from our passionate fans in Montreal.”

This is great news. There was a question mark about Naomi Osaka after the world number 2 pulled out from the French Open and Wimbledon for mental health issues.
