Usually, top tennis players are not very committed to playing mixed doubles. However, at the Olympic Games, things are different since a gold medal is considered just a gold medal and there is not much difference if the coveted prize is won playing singles or mixed doubles.
For this reason, some other top players, such as Stefanos Tsitsipas and Maria Sakkari, decided to play mixed doubles together in Tokyo.
