Alex De Minaur was one of the few players who were extremely happy to represent his country at the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo. Unfortunately, that will not happen because Alex was found positive for the Coronavirus.
The entertaining Australian player posted the following statement:
“I am so disappointed to have to miss the upcoming Tokyo Olympics after having tested positive for COVID-19 this week, just a few days before I was scheduled to depart.
I was really looking forward to representing Australia and being part of the team in Tokyo. I will support the entire delegation now from home, and can’t wait to have the opportunity to wear the Green and Gold in Paris in 2024. I will be back!!”

Alex is still expected to play the ATP 500 that will be staged in Washington on the 2nd of August. Later he will compete in the ATP1000 in Toronto.

At the moment ranked no.17, De Minaur played his last match on the 29th of June when he was overcome by world no.46 Sebastian Korda 6-3 6-4 6-7(5) 7-6(5) in the 1st round in Wimbledon (draw).
