Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, Rafael Nadal and Stefanos Tsitsipas are all going to participate in the ATP1000 that will be staged in Toronto (the Rogers Cup).
The defending champion is Rafael Nadal, who beat Daniil Medvedev in the final 6-3 6-0 in 2019. The tournament was not played in 2020 because of the pandemic.

Novak Djokovic in 2021
Ranked no.1, the Serbian played his last match on the 11th of July when he defeated world no.8 Matteo Berrettini 6-7(4) 6-4 6-4 6-3 in the final in Wimbledon to win his 85th career title.
Until now, during this year the Serbian has managed to achieve an overall 34-3 match record. The Serbian has won 4 titles in 2021 at the Australian Open, in Belgrade, at the French Open and in Wimbledon. Djokovic was the runner-up in Rome.
Daniil Medvedev in 2021
Now the world no.2 (career-high), Daniil played his last match on the 6th of July when he capitulated to world no.11 Hubert Hurkacz 2-6 7-6(2) 3-6 6-3 6-3 in the 4th round in Wimbledon (draw).
This year Daniil has achieved a compiled 29-8 match record. The Russian clinched 2 titles in 2021 in Marseille and in Mallorca. Daniil was the finalist at the Australian Open.
Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev squared off 8 times. Their actual record is 5-3 for Djokovic. The last time they played each other, Novak Djokovic won 7-5 6-2 6-2 in the final in Melbourne (Australian Open) on the 21st of February 2021.

Currently the world no.3, the Spaniard played his last match on the 11th of June when he was overcome by world no.1 Novak Djokovic 3-6 6-3 7-6(4) 6-2 in the semifinal in French Open (draw).
Until now, during this year the Spaniard has a 23-4 match record. Nadal clinched 2 titles in 2021 in Barcelona and in Rome.
Tsitsipas in Hamburg, ranking, and results in 2021
Ranked world no.4 (career-high), Stefanos has managed to achieve a composed 40-10 match record in 2021. Tsitsipas is now having a run in Hamburg where he toppled Dominik Koepfer 7-62 6-3.
Stefanos Tsitsipas will fight against the world no.44 Filip Krajinovic in the quarter. Their current record is 2-0 for Tsitsipas.
Stefanos clinched 2 titles in 2021 in Monte-Carlo and in Lyon. The Greek was the runner-up in Acapulco (Abierto Mexicano Telcel), in Barcelona (Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell) and at the French Open.
