Bio, family and aboriginal ancestry

Ashleigh was born on 24 April 1996 in Ipswich, Queensland, Australia, to Josie and Robert Barty. Her father’s grandmother is a member of the Ngaragu people who are indigenous to southern New South Wales and northeastern Victoria. 

Ashleigh has always been proud of her aboriginal ancestry, and she has always been an inspiration for girls of similar origin.

Barty’s mother works as a radiographer, and like many other Australians, she is the daughter of English immigrants. Ashleigh has 2 older sisters: Sara and Ali.

Ashleigh loves sport in general and she famously got a long break from tennis after the 2014 US Open to play cricket. Barty was back to tennis in 2016, and she became the world no.1 in 2019. As of now, Ashleigh won 11 titles, and the Roland Garros in 2019.

Craig Tyzzer currently coaches Ashleigh. She has been dating for long her boyfriend Garry Kissick, who tries to follow her girlfriend all over the world whenever he can.

Ranked world no.1, Ashleigh has an overall 33-6 win-loss record in 2021. Barty is playing at the moment in Wimbledon where she conquered Carla Suarez Navarro 6-1 6-71 6-1, Anna Blinkova 6-4 6-3, Katerina Siniakova 6-3 7-5, Barbora Krejcikova 7-5 6-3 and Ajla Tomljanovic 6-1 6-3.
