Lorenzo Musetti On The Olympics

There is a little bit of a controversy in Italy after Jannik Sinner decided not to play the upcoming Olympic Games that will be staged in Tokyo.

Lorenzo Musetti will get his place in Japan and he is more than happy to do that. In a short statement, Lorenzo commented:

“For me, as for any athlete, the Olympics is a great opportunity, as is always playing for the blue shirt (Italy) and fighting alongside my teammates.”

Unfortunately, many argued that Janni Sinner was not so keen to play for his country even if he posted the following message:

“By no means do I take this decision lightly, but I decided not to compete in the Olympics this year. I understand it’s a huge privilege and honour to represent my country and I truly hope to do so for many years to come.

However, the reasoning behind my withdrawal is I that haven’t performed to the best of my ability in the last couple of tournaments and I need to focus on my development as a player. I need to take this time to work on my all-round game.”

These are the 6 tennis players who will represent Italy at the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo.

  1. Matteo Berrettini
  2. Fabio Fognini
  3. Lorenzo Sonego
  4. Lorenzo Musetti
  5. Camila Giorgi
  6. Jasmine Paolini
