Game Over Tsonga for London

Nasty stuff for Tsonga.

The exciting Frenchman didn’t manage to overcome Kei Nishikori in the opener to lose hope to qualify for the World Tour Finals.

Tsonga was rather unlucky in his draw to immediately face the Japanese that was in great form.  Jo has a lot to think about this match. After winning the first set 6-1, the Frenchman lost the second set at the tiebreak and in the decider he wasn’t able to convert two match points in the final tiebreak. The Frenchman squandered the first match point with a double fault. Nishikori saved the second MP with an incredible ace on the second serve.

Finally Kei won the match after 2 hours and 27 minutes scoring just 1 point more than Jo. (105 vs. 104). Match Stats.

This match ends Tsonga’s aspirations for London and puts the Japanese in the third round where he is going to play another Frenchman that is also aiming at qualifying to London: Richard Gasquet. Head to head is 3-0 for the Frenchman.
