What a surprise in Valencia! The title seemed to be up for grab for David Ferrer, but Mikhail was definitely of a different opinion.
The unseeded Russian had an amazing start to grab an astonishing 5-1 lead in the opening set to win 6-3. In the second set Youzhny looked to be doomed as he was 1-4 down and David was all over the places with a huge support of the home crowd. Eventually the world no.21 regrouped to break back Ferrer in the 7th game (3-4) and break him again in the 11th (6-5) . The Russian won his 2nd title of the year beating Ferrer 6-3 7-5. Match Stats.

Ferrer: He was more comfortable then me on court
David was still happy by his performance and he praised Mikhail’s efforts to comment “The truth is that Youzhny played very good. He sliced and served very well. He was more comfortable then me on court, I was missing touch.”
