Tsonga survives world no.149 to reach the semifinal in Vienna

A rough ride and a close encounter for Jo-Wilfred Tsonga that had an unexpected tough match against the wild carded world no.149 Dominc Thiem in Vienna.

In the first two sets the only difference between these two was just 1 break each. The duo went straight to the decider in the third set, but Jo’s experience gave the match to the Frenchman after 2 hours and 14 minutes.

There was only 1 point difference between them as Tsonga scored 104 pots vs. Thiem’s 103. The young Austrian failed in the break point conversion to break Tsonga only once out of 8. Match Stats.

The semis vs. Haase

Jo will play Robin Haase for a place in the final. The Dutch has defeated Fabio Fognini 6-7 (4) 6-1 6-1.  Head to head is 1-0 for Tsonga.
