Great stuff for an ever exciting Ernest Gulbis that ousted Jerzy Janowicz in a wonderful 3 setter.
Gulbis had a false start to drop his service in the first game of match to then break back in the 8th game and break again Jerzy to win the opener 7-5.
In the second set the Latvian dropped again his serve in the first game to then lose the set 6-4. In the decider both players served rather well and the only difference between these two was when Jerzy was broken in the 6th game to go 2-4 down. That was it… as Gulbis won the decider 6-3 and the match ended just over 2 hours. Match Stats

Ernest will play David Ferrer in the semifinal.The Spaniard benefited from a walk over on Fernando Verdasco (injured to the abdominals). Head to head is 1-0 for Ferrer and that was a nasty 6-2 6-1 in 2007.
