Stefanos Tsitsipas and his lovely message for his late grandmother

Stefanos Tsitsipas had a rather emotional roller coast during the last Roland Garros. The Greek sensation reached the final of the major before losing to Novak Djokovic after leading by 2 sets. Unfortunately, Stefanos’ paternal grandmother Stavroula died just before the final.

After the French Open, Tsitsipas decided not to play the tournament in Halle to take some time off. Unfortunately, Stefanos Tsitsipas was not able to attend his grandmother’s funeral that was held on Tuesday at the Church of Agios Athanasios in Karditsa. However, he sent a floral wreath to honor her memory with the following message:

“My grandmother Stavroula, champion of devotion and faith, champion of courage and bravery, champion of life. You are first in my heart, my dear grandmother. You will always inspire me on my way. Farewell in your journey to eternity. Your grandson Stefanos.”

Stefanos will not play any tournament on grass before Wimbledon, where he is considered as one of the top favorites. Tsitsipas’ best result in Wimbledon was reaching the fourth round in 2018. (Details)
