Stefanos Tsitsipas and Maria Sakkari will defend the colors of Greece at the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo. Their participation is great news for the tennis world since many other players decided not to compete in Japan because of the restrictions. Rafael Nadal, Dominic Thiem, and Denis Shapovalov have recently confirmed that they will skip the Games.

The president of Hellenic Olympic Committee and member of the International Olympic Committee, Spyros Kapralos, commented:

“I am very happy that Maria Sakkari and Stefanos Tsitsipas will wear the Greek jersey and will represent our country at the Tokyo Olympics. Their participation is a great achievement for Greece, as they are two leading athletes who promote our country worldwide in the best way, both inside and outside the courts.”
