Super Rafa dismisses Berlocq to reach the quarters in Shanghai

Another wonderful match for Rafa that advances in the quarters in Shanghai.

The world no.1 had to play quite a good Carlos Berlocq that was intimidated at all to play the best player of 2013.

Rafa had an exceptional start of the match. After losing the 1st game on Carlos’ service, Rafa won 7 consecutive games to lead 6-1 1-0.  To be honest the Argentine didn’t deserve such a tough scoreline as he lost most of the games at 30 and 40.

In the second set there was no break and it was Rafa to win the tiebreak at 5. The match ended after 1 hour and 49 minutes. Match Stats .

Rafa: Berlocq is a great example of player who never gives up

Rafa had wonderful comments for… his own tennis and Berlocq to say “I was happy the way I played at the end. I think I played a fantastic first set. In the second, I felt a little bit more tired. He had a big opportunity in the tie-break with the 5-2. So I was lucky I played three great points in that moment. Unfortunately for him, he hit a double fault. At the end it was close, emotional. I’m very happy to be through.

“Berlocq is a great example of player who never gives up, a player who has always improved throughout his career.”

Next vs. Wawrinka

Nadal will play Stanislas Wawrinka in the quarters. Head to head is 10-0 for the Spaniard that has never conceded a single set to the Swiss.
