Game Over for Federer in Shanghai in singles and doubles

Another day of misery for the Maestro that seems incapable to get back to his illustrious past.

This time the “Terminator” was Gael Monfils that dominated the Swiss for the entire match. In the first set Roger suffered from an early break in the first game that made him lose the first set 6-4. In the second the Maestro recovered from 1 set down to win at the breaker. In the third set a break in the 4th game decided the match.

At the end Gael scored 108 points vs. Roger’s 98. The Swiss had again a lousy conversion of break points (only 1 out of 5 or 20%).

Gael: I feel a bit sorry for him

The Frenchman was very nice with Roger to comment “I knew that I choked on this forehand at 5 4 in the tie-break.

Then I changed my ideas because I was maybe nervous, too. Even if was tired, I tried to play more aggressively sometimes, going more for my shots and it worked.

It’s a good win for me. I feel a bit sorry for him because I know he’s running for London. But it’s tennis. He’s going to have more opportunity those weeks coming up.”

Next vs. Djokovic

Gael will play next the next match against Novak Djokovic. Head to head is 8-0 for Nole that is the super favourite.
