Federer wins the first match in doubles with the Chinese No.1 in Shanghai

A good start for King Roger in Shanghai. The Swiss was doing an interesting experiment with the world no. 271 (and Chinese no.1) Ze Zhang, and that went quite well (at least in the first match).

Both Federer and Zhang played very good doubles against boom boom Anderson and Tursunov to concede just 3 games in 48 minutes.

Roger: I’m just so happy for Zhang Ze

“That’s kind of the ultimate goal, to partner up with a Chinese up and coming player and promote the game at the same time. I’m just so happy for Zhang Ze, that he played really well. I really am, because he couldn’t have played any better.” Said Federer

And the singles?

Roger is in an unusual position as he still has to qualify for the World Tour Finals in London and that is definitely not a given as he is really struggling with his rankings.

Roger will play either Andreas Seppi or Lleyton Hewitt in his opener.
