Stefanos Tsitsipas had a rather unique day on Sunday when he played and lost his first Grand Slam final at the French Open at the hands of the great Novak Djokovic. Unfortunately, Stefanos Tsitsipas also lost his paternal grandmother 5 minutes before hitting the court in Paris.

The Greek sensation dedicated his amazing run at the Roland Garros to his grandmother with a heartfelt message on social media. Coco Gauff is on great terms with Stefanos as they also trained at the same Academy in the south of France.

Coco was quick in commenting on Stefanos’ post about his grandmother. She wrote:

“So sorry for your loss. I know she was watching and so happy for you because you fought so hard today and it was so inspiring and incredibly to see.”

Coco Gauff will not play this week, back to she will be back to competitions next week in Eastbourne. Stefanos Tsitsipas is scheduled to play this week in Halle, but a late withdrawal is plausible.
