The Swiss Maestro has landed in Shanghai, but funny enough that went a bit unnoticed in the tennis community had all the eyes are on the “will-be-new-world-no1”… Rafael Nadal.
Last Year
In 2012 things were dramatically different as Roger had to fly to Shanghai to reach the quarters and get an historical 300 weeks record as world no.1.
That trip was full of drama as Roger did receive a quirky dead threat and in order to get to the quarters he had to defeat his compatriot (and probably friend) Stanislas Wawrinka in a very tight match.
This year
Well… it is all about trying to qualify for the World Tour Finals as Roger is world no.7 in the race to London and the competition is very close. As Andy Murray is injured, probably the first 9 players will get to the Finals, so Roger’s benchmark is Tsonga that is 400+ points behind.
