WTA Rankings. Bouchard and Halep at career high. Kvitova back in the top10

Last week we had a major tournament in the WTA circuit in Tokyo won by Petra Kvitova over Angelique Kerber.

Kvitova

Petra had a very important boost from winning in Tokyo to gain 4 places and being ranked  no.7.

Bouchard

Genie Bouchard is on a roll. In Tokyo she has defeated 3 great players such as Monica Puig (a very interesting prospect), Sloane Stephens and former world no.1 Jelena Jankovic. Reaching the quarters helped Genie to climb 10 places to be ranked world no.36. This is very important for the Canadian in order to avoid playing the qualifications in top tournaments.

Halep

Simona didn’t have a fantastic tournament in Tokyo to lose to Venus Williams in the 3rd round, but a declining Stosur helped her to climb another places and being ranked no.,17 (career high).

Venus Williams

Venus played a remarkable tournament in Tokyo to beat (an unfit) Azarenka, Simona Halep, Genie Bouchard to lose in the semifinal against Petra Kvitova.

Petrova

Nadia Petrova is the biggest loser to go down 38 places as she couldn’t defend last year’s title in Tokyo.
