NO WIMBLEDON? Naomi Osaka withdraws from next tournament on grass in Berlin

This is the reason why Naomi Osaka will probably miss Wimbledon. There are still some doubts about her participation to the Olympic Games given her mental state

Naomi Osaka seems to be posed to have a long break away from tennis. The Japanese sensation had to withdraw from the French Open because she was struggling with mental health issues. That left some doubt about whether Naomi will compete during the grass season and play in Wimbledon.

Naomi Osaka is now back in Los Angeles, where she is regrouping. However, she has already withdrawn from her first scheduled grass-court event in Berlin that will be staged from the 14th of June. This corroborates the idea that the Japanese number 1 will not play the Championships even if she is still part of the entry list.

Naomi has never managed to go beyond the 3rd round in Wimbledon (details).

What about the Olympic Games?

At this point, there are also serious doubts about Naomi’s participation in the Olympic games, where she is expected to be one of the most prominent athletes. If Osaka plays the Games in Tokyo, she will be expected to go through a huge array of press conferences and promotional events, and she is not very comfortable doing this sort of activity.

The opening of the Olympic Games is scheduled for the 23rd of July. Therefore, there may be enough time for Naomi Osaka to regroup.

For now, the most important thing is her mental health.
