Murray’s Wimbledon racket sold for £80,000

Another good result for Andy Murray!

During a recent charity event 2 ladies shared the memorabilia offering £40.000 each . Actually there was a funny situation as two tables were stuck at £40.000 after racing from an initial offering of £15.000.

Then Judy Murray, Andy’s mother, proposed that the two ladies would have shared the prize if both would have stick to their £40.000 offer (that would make it £80.000)… at the end of the day it’s about helping a good cause.

Actually the prize was Andy’s bag filled with Wimbledon related items such as sweat bands, a towel and a racket used in one of the earlier rounds at the Championship.

A spokeswoman for the event commented “Forty thousand pounds was the final bid but there were two tables competing and she agreed to offer the same again if the second table would match £40,000.

So there were two tables that each bid £40,000, netting £80,000 in total.”

The event finally raised £425.000 for The Prince’s Trust Scotland charity that gives practical and financial support to disadvantaged young people, developing key workplace skills such as confidence and motivation.
