Andy Murray announced that he will not play in the French Open this year.

The former number 1 returned from a groin injury with a training week and two doubles matches in Rome. However, many were surprised with the fact that Andy Murray didn’t ask for the wild-card in the tournaments that followed the ATP1000 in Rome.

Now it’s clear that the reason is that Andy is still struggling with his injury. Therefore, he announced that he will skip the Roland Garros.

Andy commented:

“I did pretty well physically for the first points and practice sets at this level for a long time. I was happy with that and hopefully will keep building the next few weeks.”

Murray reached the final in Paris in 2016 and he was the semi-finalist on 4 occasions. (details)
