Genie is getting there.

The Canadian had an interesting American swing. In fact, even if she lost all three tournaments (Toronto, Cincinnati and the US Open) in the 2nd round, in the last two she lost only in the third set against top players such as Serena Williams (!!!) and Angelique Kerber.

Genie will definitely give it a shot at the Bell Challenge in Quebec. She has defeated in the first round Sofia Arvidsson in 3 sets and now Sesil Karatancheva 7-6 (2) 6-4.

Genie: I gave it my all

Bouchard was rather happy by her match also because she found herself in murky waters after squandering a 4-0 lead in the opener “I’m happy I was able to stay with her. I fought really well even though I wasn’t playing my best.

I gave it my all and I was able to turn around the match and the second set as well. I started to be more aggressive and that made the difference.”

Next vs. Mladenovic

Genie will play world no. 40 and seed no.2 Kristina Mladenovic from France. This will be the first time they play each other.
