What a wonderful tournament from Richard Gasquet in New York!
The talented Frenchman pulls a great surprise to defeated David Ferrer in a very interesting 5 setter. The match was quite a thriller as Gasquet won the first 2 sets and there was the impression that the match was in his pocket. But you have always to take into account that David Ferrer is a warrior and in fact the Spaniard didn’t let it go to win the 3rd and 4th set and take his chances in the decider. Then Richard kept his nerves to grab the 5th set 6-3.

Gasquet will play the worst possible player in the semifinal. He will face a super in-form Rafael Nadal that has mauled Tommy Robredo in the quarters 6-0 6-2 6-2. Head to head is 10-0 for Rafa that is the overwhelming favourite to reach the final.
