Azarenka reaches a good semifinal in New York.
Besides Ana Ivanovic, Vika didn’t have to face very tough opponent so far in the tournament, but still she kept her nerves to reach the semifinal and play as a favourite Flavia Pennetta.
Daniela Hantuchova could have been a tricky opponent for the Belarus that struggled only in the first game of each set. In fact, Vika lost her serve in the beginning of both sets to then immediately break back, but that was it. Eventually Azarenka scored 62 points vs. Daniela’s 45.

Azarenka had a couple of thoughts about her next opponent, Flavia Pennetta “She’s very good player, all-around player. She can do anything. She has a great touch, great variety, she can create power, create spin. I’m really looking forward to that match. It’s a big challenge.”

Azarenka will pay the semifinal against a surprising Pennetta. The Italian defeated her compatriot Roberta Vinci 6-1 6-4 in the quarters. Head to head is 2-1 for Flavia (considering a walk over). Vika remains the favourite to reach the final.
