Rafa dismisses Dodig in straight sets in New York

Another good win from Rafael Nadal.

The King of Clay (and hard court) didn’t drop a set and a single service game so far in the tournament.

With Ivan Dodig the “music” was the same. Rafa was almost perfect to win score 90 points vs. Dodig’s 63. Rafa’s complete domination is rather clear when you see the statistics on the second serve as Rafa won 74% of the points (and 50% on Dodig serve). Match stats.

Rafa: I played better today than in the previous matches

Nadal was really happy about his performance to comment “I think I played a correct match today.

To be able to win against him in straight sets is great news. I played better today than in the previous matches. Always a positive thing. Every win means a lot. I’m happy with the way that I am playing, and trying to be ready for the next”

…about his unbreakable serve

Rafa shared also some ideas on why his serve is working so well “ [my serve] is working, but I am not serving at 130 miles per hour every time. So it’s working because I am playing well from the baseline. It’s working because I am serving with the right percentage. It’s working for the first three matches. We’ll see if I am able to keep working.”

Next vs. Kohlschreiber

Rafa will play Kohlschreiber in the 4th round. Now ranked world 25, the German has defeated John Isner 6-4 3-6 7-5 7-6 (5). Head to head is 10-1 for Rafa.
