Nadal wins a comfortable opener in New York to improve his hard court record

Another incredible match for Rafael Nadal that has improved his hard courts record in 2013 (16-0).

Rafa made it clear from the very beginning that he was in great form to score an unreal winner when playing the 5th point (see video above).

The King of Clay didn’t leave much to Ryan Harrison that wasn’t unable to break Rafa once to drop his serve 5 times. Eventually Rafa won 94 points vs. Ryan’s 69. Match Stats.

Rafa: It is a good start for me

An obviously happy Rafa commented “Always the first round is not easy. The conditions out there today were difficult, so happy to be through. Win in straight sets, so is a good start for me.”

“For me the chance to be back here playing, I have a chance to compete this year, is great. I am enjoying the week before practising. Today it was the first match after two years in Arthur Ashe, so it’s a great feeling.” Added Rafa.

Next vs. Pospisil or Dutra Silva

Rafa will play the second round either vs. Vasek Pospisil or Rogerio Dutra Silva. Rafa has never played with any of them.
