Stefanos Tsitsipas And His Mother Julia

Stefanos Tsitsipas was particularly proud of winning his Maiden Master ATP 1000 in Monte Carlo. His mother, Julia Salnikova, also won a tournament in the Principality when she was a junior back in 1981.

Julia had a lovely interview with local outlet Hellomonaco discussing her son. Yulia was asked to elaborate on a specific situation when Stefanos showed his huge determination when he was a kid.

Yulia revealed:

“First of all, it was all about hard training and discipline. Not every child is capable of that.

As a teenager, Stefanos was prescribed a strict diet for medical reasons. He absolutely had to exclude gluten, lactose and sugar which is a real disaster for a young child. He unflinchingly followed it for several years. Just imagine what strength of character he had!

At the same time, he was training and traveled a lot, carrying special food in his boxes and bags.”

Stefanos is now in Barcelona, where he will try to conquer his first ATP 500. Tsitsipas is seeded number 2 in Catalonia, and that he will face Antoni Munar Clar in his opening match.
