Naomi Osaka and Cori Gauff are among the most interesting upcoming players on the WTA tour. Naomi Osaka has already conquered 4 slams while Coco Gauff at 17 years of age has already a game of tennis that creates problems to the very best.
Women’s tennis has been dominated by the presence of the likes of Serena Williams in the last two decades. Tennis great Martina Navratilova is pleased to notice that the new generation is taking over in the best possible way. Martina revealed that she is extremely impressed and pleased with the progress of Naomi Osaka in the Coco Gauff.
Martina conquered 59 slam titles in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. Therefore, Navratilova knows very well what it takes to be a tennis champion. Recently, she said:
“The field of the women that’s making headlines, becoming household names like Coco Gauff, Naomi Osaka. They are much quicker than when we first started.”
Naomi Osaka and Coco Gauff are both out of the competitions. They will be back at the WTA tour on the occasion of the Madrid Open that will commence next week.

At the moment ranked no.2, Osaka played her last match on the 31st of March when she surrendered to world no.19 Maria Sakkari 6-0 6-4 in the quarter in Miami (draw).
This season Naomi has an overall 12-1 win-loss record. Naomi clinched 1 title at the Australian Open.
Cori Gauff in 2021
Now ranked no.35 (career-high), Gauff played her last match on the 9th of April when she capitulated to world no.25 Ons Jabeur 6-3 6-3 in the quarter in Charleston (draw).
Until now, during this year Gauff owns an overall 14-7 record. Cori Gauff’s best performance of the present year was getting to the semifinal in Adelaide.
Naomi Osaka and Cori Gauff fought against each other only 2 times. Their actual head to head record is 1-1. Previously, the last time when they locked horns, Cori Gauff won 6-3 6-4 in the 3rd round in Melbourne (Australian Open) in January 2020.
