Novak Djokovic And Jannik Sinner

Novak Djokovic was extremely gracious after defeating Jannik Sinner in the second round at the ATP 1000 in Monte Carlo. The Serbian sensation has always stated that Jannik is one of the most interesting upcoming players on the ATP Tour. Soon after his match against the Italian, the world number 1 had the nice heart to give three or four precious tips to Jannik Sinner’s coach Riccardo Piatti.

In the following press conference, Novak Djokovic was asked to express his opinion about Jannik Sinner. Djokovic explained why he believes that Jannik is better than most the other players of a similar age.

“I think he’s a very talented player and he has established himself. I feel he is at a high level of the men’s game. Playing Masters finals and winning already a couple of tournaments for his age and I think that is.

What impresses me the most is his professionalism, his dedication to the everyday routines that he has to endure in order to play at such high level. I think this is why the consistency of his results is there.”

Usually, for a young player like him you don’t normally see what we would see and expect is that he’s got a couple of good weeks here and there but then the consistency is maybe not present yet until the young player matures.

With him it is different. He really has a good mindset; he seems more mature for his age than most of the other guys with the way. He’s training with the way he’s playing; he’s got a really good tempo from the baseline

He can play well on all the surfaces which he has proven obviously. There are things to improve. There are always things to improve. I definitely wish him all the best and I’m sure a bright future ahead of him .”

Jannik Sinner is now in Barcelona where he will face Egor Gerasimov in the second round.
