Now ranked world no.100, James Blake’s morale got a boost after defeating Jerzy Janowicz last week in Cincinnati. The former world no.4 has now beaten in straight sets fellow American Rhyne Williams 6-1 7-5 to set a clash against the seed no.5 Benoit Paire. This will be the first match between these two.

Fish

A recovering Mardy defeated world no.83 Evgeny Donskoy in his opener 6-3 3-6 6-1. Mardy will play Jarkko Nieminem in the second round.  Head to head is 1-0 for Nieminem, but that was 5 years ago. Details.
