Nadal beats Berdych to reach the final in Cincinnati

Another great performance for Rafa.

The Spaniard had to play a very solid against Tomas Berdych that was having a very good Cincinnati to beat in straight sets Nieminem, Robredo and Wimbledon champion Andy Murray.

The match had a couple of key points. The first one was the decisive break conquered by Rafa in the 11th game of the first set. The second one was when Nadal managed to immediately break back Berdych when he was 2-4 down in the second set.

Beside the scoreline, Nadal  was clearly the better player to win  91 points vs. Berdych’s  78. Rafa was completely dominant in the baseline rallies and that is rather clear looking at the second serve point percentage. Rafa won 61% of the points on his second serve while Tomas only 38%. The Czech managed to hang on his service games as he had a very good percentage on his first serve points ( 83% ). The match ended after 2 hours and 6 minutes. Match Stats.

Rafa: I think I played a very good match

“I finished the match playing aggressive with the forehand, with the backhand, and it’s great.

I think I played a very good match this afternoon against a very difficult opponent who came to this match playing very well, and I have to be very, very happy about everything.” Commented Nadal

The final vs. Isner

Rafa will play the final against home favourite John Isner that is playing a magnificent tennis. Head to head is 3-0 for Nadal, but it has always been a great battle between these two. Details
