Linda Fruhvirtova is hitting the headlines in Charleston after reaching the quarters at just 15 years of age. Serena Williams’ coach Patrick Mouratoglou expressed his happiness for seeing Linda winning her first match in South Carolina.
In that match, the 15 years old defeated Alize Cornet after the French woman had to withdraw with an injury in the third set the following a huge battle.
Patrick tweeted: “Winning a WTA tour-level match at age 15 is a rare achievement Congratulations to Linda, who I have seen grow every step of the way since she was 10. First of many! Wishing Alizé a speedy recovery.”
In the following round, Linda went one step further after dismissing home favorite Emma Navarro with a 6-4 6-2 score line.
Linda Fruhvirtova will fight against the world no.165 Astra Sharma in the quarter. They have never played each other up to now in top competitions.
