Naomi Osaka is definitely one of the most admired Japanese athletes right now. The world number 2 will be one of the most recognizable faces in the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo where she is looking forward to representing her country.

Naomi Osaka is an interesting blend of various cultures. Her mother is from Japan, her father from Haiti, and she spent the most of her life in America.

Naomi discussed her life in an interesting piece written for Nikkei Asia.

“I give credit equally to all those cultures for shaping me into the person I am today. I credit my Japanese side for my discipline, good manners, cleanliness and sense of style. My mom’s work ethic, working two jobs a day to support my tennis, has rubbed off on me too.

My American side has allowed me to be more open-minded and progressive. And my Haitian side has given me the courage to push through when things get tough.

Japan is such an important part of my life and my makeup. I am proud of who I am and no one will be prouder than me when I compete for Japan in the Olympics

later this year. Hopefully with your full support!”

Naomi decided to take a long break after she lost it in the quarters of the Miami Open at the hands of Maria Sakkari. Naomi Osaka will be back to competitions only for the Madrid Open that will commence from the 26th of April.
