Marion Bartoli retires from tennis!

Wow… that wasn’t really expected.

The tennis world was wondering if Marion was able to win another Slam after her triumph in Wimbledon… but we guess we had the answer: no she won’t!

At 28 years of age Marion announces her retirement after losing to Simona Halep in Cincinnati 3-6 6-4 6-1.

Bartoli: I feel it’s time to walk away…

The Frenchwoman announced “Well, it’s never easy and obviously there is never a time to say it or whatever, but that was actually the last match of my career,

It’s time for me to retire and to call it a career. I feel it’s time for me to walk away.”

…everybody will remember me for my Wimbledon title

“I have pain everywhere after 45 minutes or an hour of play…. it’s just body wise I just can’t do it any more.

Everyone will remember my Wimbledon title. No one will remember the last match I played here. That was probably the last little bit of something that was left inside me,” she added.

Now ranked world no7, Marion has won 8 career title and 1 slam.

Well.. good luck, the last Wimbledon was a lot of fun!
