Stefanos Tsitsipas will face Aslan Karatsev on Tuesday in the second round in Monte Carlo. This year the tournament is staged without fans because of the global pandemic. While some players like Benoit Paire are not happy about playing without the spectators, some others can see the silver lining in the fact that there is more space available to the players in the club in Monte Carlo.
Stefanos Tsitsipas is among the players that expressed their comfort in having more space in the Principality. During the press conference that preceded his tournament, the Greek sensation stated:
“It’s way better to have space for the players, have us move around a little bit more. Obviously, I miss the public a lot. We can’t wait to have them back.
Right now, I’m enjoying being here. As I said, there’s a lot of space. That definitely puts out a better atmosphere between the players, as well.
Yeah, it’s always a fun tournament to be watching and playing, the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters.”

Now ranked no.5 (career-high), the Greek played his last match on the 1st of April when he was overcome by world no.16 Hubert Hurkacz 2-6 6-3 6-4 in the quarter in Miami (draw).
This year the Greek achieved a composed 17-5 win-loss record. Stefanos Tsitsipas’s best result of this season was getting to the final in Acapulco.

Ranked no.29, the Russian owns a composed 17-3 record in 2021. Karatsev is currently competing in Carlo Rolex Masters where he conquered Lorenzo Musetti 6-3 6-4.
Aslan Karatsev will fight against the world no.5 Stefanos Tsitsipas in the 2nd round on Tuesday at 4:00 pm on COURT RAINIER III. In the past, they have never competed against each other as of now in top tournaments.
