Benoit Paire will clash against Jordan Thompson in the first round in Monte Carlo. Benoit had a rather quirky and disastrous 2021 so far. The erratic Frenchman has a horrible 1-8 win-loss record this year after playing 7 tournaments.

Lately, Benoit Paire also tanked many matches, often showing extremely strange behavior. He recently stated that the tour became very sad during this pandemic because of the various restrictions, and he is not enjoying it anymore. Therefore, he decided only to show up for the tournaments putting the smallest possible effort to cash in money and move on. It would be interesting to see if the world the number 33 will have the same behavior on the home soil in Monte Carlo.

Paire’s best result in Monte Carlo was reaching the third round in 2016.

Benoit Paire and Jordan Thompson faced off only once. Their actual head to head record is 1-0 for Thompson. When they played, Jordan Thompson won 6-7(3) 7-6(5) 6-4

in the 1st round in Lyon (Open Parc) in May 2017.
